Kim is very excited to join forces with Phyllis Bookspan, and brings a fresh perspective to the practice of family law. Kim has many years of experience combining the legal and the practical sides of family law matters to get the best possible outcome for her clients. Prior to starting Bookspan Law Group, P.C., she had her own practice, The Law Offices of Kimberly J. Krzyzaniak. There she grew a successful practice that focused solely on cases involving divorce, child custody, grandparents rights, and pre/post nuptial agreements.
She is a fierce litigator who also connects with her clients. Kim began her family law career at the Senior Law Center in Philadelphia, where she handled all types of litigation, protecting the legal rights of the elderly, including elder abuse. She launched the Center's first direct legal services where she represented grandparents raising grandchildren. This started her long-standing advocacy of grandparent's custody rights.
Some of the highlights of Kim's work include co-authoring the amicus brief in Hiller v. Fausey, a seminal case addressing the Pennsylvania Grandparent Act. Most recently, in 2017, she tried and then successfully argued an appeal before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania to confirm a trial court award of sole legal and primary physical custody to grandparents.
Believing that in family law you have to remember the "family," in 2016, Kim obtained her Mediation Certification. With this outlook, she looks to help resolve matters without costly litigation. It is Kim's philosophy that parties reach better results when they are informed and understand their legal rights. She looks forward to continuing to help people in these difficult cases.
